About Me
I’m Moustafa — a licensed structural engineer (S.E., P.E.) who fell in love with software development. I’m currently diving deeper into computer science, working towards my Master’s degree. My work has taken me from designing buildings and bridges to creating tools that make engineers' lives easier. I enjoy the challenge of blending engineering principles with modern tech to solve real-world problems.
But let's be real—my life isn’t all beams, codes, and algorithms. Outside of work, I like to keep things fun. You might catch me:
- Playing a casual game of soccer (although I take it a little too seriously sometimes).
- Trying to keep up at the gym or planning my next 3D printing project (currently obsessed with my custom Voron build).
- Experimenting with my Gaggiunio espresso machine to perfect my morning coffee—mods included, of course!
- Gaming, tinkering, or just chasing whatever idea has sparked my curiosity that day.
I’m a big believer in continuous learning, whether that’s through pushing my technical limits or figuring out how to make a better latte. This mix of work and play is what keeps me motivated and excited about the future.
Professional Journey
Since starting my career in structural engineering in 2017, I’ve been involved in high-profile projects across diverse sectors including healthcare, transportation, flood resiliency, and more. Some but not limited to:
- Advanced finite element analysis for dynamic impact, progressive collapse, and blast analysis.
- Parametric and automated modeling using tools like Dynamo, Grasshopper, and Python utilizing different APIs.
- Designing iconic infrastructure like the Hospital for Special Surgery (also known as Kellen Tower) and Hudson Tunnels Station.
In parallel, I have embraced software development to bridge traditional engineering with cutting-edge technological solutions. My work includes:
- Developing custom plugins, real-time data interoperability tools, and innovative applications using technologies like C#, Python, Azure Web technology, and Power BI.
- Streamlining workflows and enhancing data visualization for complex engineering challenges.
- Creating software and plugin solutions that resolve interoperability issues and automate repetitive tasks in engineering workflows.
